The first half was dominated by both packs and plagued with errors. Bredon struggled to exit in the first 20 with ferocious line speed from the home side. After a lot of strong carries from the Bredon pack, Jack Tharme and Dodge Antonelli to the fore, Bredon earned themselves a penalty which was nicely slotted by Jack Dowdeswell.
After some substantial pressure inside the Brockworth 22, probably Bredon's first visit into the home sides half, the backs showed some nice quick hands for Tom Kenwright to slide over in the corner.
Brockworth kept the pressure on their visitors however with some strong carries around the fringes and a dominant line out. They were rewarded for their sustained period of pressure, crossing in the corner before half time, to make it 5-8. They kept the pressure on throughout the remainder of the half, and looked close to scoring again until Ad Dziamarski neatly counter rucked and earned a penalty.
After a stern talking to at half-time the second half started positively for Bredon, and they showed a new lease of life. The backs carried hard and made some good breaks alongside the pack. After a few minutes of pressure and some quick, dynamic runs around the fringes, Bertie Tarrant received a neat offload to cross th whitewash near the posts. The try was converted by the aforementioned Dowdeswell to make it 15-10 in Bredon's favour.
The remainder of the game was filled with plenty of aggression and scuffles. It's safe to say Brockworth squandered an opportunity or two, but they still had possession and and opportunity, with a penalty in the last few minutes. However, some ill-discipline allowed the Bredon pack an opportunity which they clutched with a bit of strength and guts, out-scrummaged the home side to win a penalty. The ball was thumped down field but still alllowed Brockworth the opportunity to launch an attack in the last minute down the left wing but, thanks to a neat turnover from Josh Fitzgerald, the game ended 10-15.
A second away win of the season, secured, making it 2 wins from 2 and we march on to Cheltenham North in our first home game on 29th September.
